| about aida... |
The flamboyant stage character ‘Aida’ was born in early 2000, conceived by her
talented creator in response to dares from her close friends. A few years on from her debut she became actively
involved in Melbourne’s nightlife scene. Now a seasoned performer, she makes regular appearances in many of the
city's hot nightspots.Aida is well known for her onstage charisma. That, together with the lavish costumes and a sharp wit, sets the scene for a night to remember from the time she hits the stage. You can be assured the audience will be dazzled by both the persona and raw talent of this young entertainer as she presents her many characters or lays out some tunes accompanied by her muscular sexy male dancers. Aida’s alter ego is a musically and theatrically trained with the ability to sing (not mime) and dance (to the beats of jazz, funk or tap). This has made Aida one of only a few versatile and sought after performers in the industry. Her repertoire consists of anything from ballads, character songs, comedy, to upbeat commercial dance. She co-hosted the annual Lotus-series competitions at the Star Hotel (now Opium Den) from 2001 - 2005. She has also appeared in major events such as Help OUT (with Rachel Berger, Katie Underwood, Tania Doko, Bob Downe, Slinkee Minx, and Adam Richard), Logies After Party, Midsumma Opening at Federation Square, Midsumma Carnival at Alexander Garden, Melbourne's Rainbow Awards, and the recent TV series Drags Aloud to name a few. |
